The campaign that changed the eating habits of a nation!
Sales of factory-farmed chickens have slumped since a high-profile campaign raised awareness of the cruelty at the heart of the poultry industry and implored consumers to pay more to improve the animals' welfare.
In a victory for campaigners who have fought to expose the short and brutal lives of broiler birds, shoppers have bought millions more free-range and organic birds while leaving mass-produced chickens on the shelves.
Sales of free-range poultry shot up by 35 per cent last month compared with January 2007, while sales of standard indoor birds fell by 7 per cent, according to a survey of 25,000 shoppers by the market research company TNS.
Supermarkets have been stripped of free-range birds, prompting complaints from frustrated shoppers keen to embrace the movement away from intensive farming.
The rise in sales would have been even higher if poultry producers had been able to keep up with demand. Many suppliers in the £2bn-a-year poultry industry are now expected to convert cramped chicken sheds into more spacious accommodation....

Chicken Out! campaign exceeds 100,000 sign-ups!
It's been a while since we updated out news, we've been so busy... however, a quick news story for you....
0404 have been working with River Cottage on their current Chicken Out! campaign. The Campaign which is highlighting the awful conditions that 95% of the UK's chicken has to endure throughout their intensive tiny lives. The campaign and TV show (Hugh's Chicken Run), which has taken top spot on C4's food season has attracted tens of thousands of supporters to the www.chickenout.tv website. The chicken sign-up counter has not rested, and at the time of writing is passing 100,000 supporters.
0404 is responsible for design and production of the identity, television graphics, banner campaign, video counter and website. To find out more about this campaign and to sign-up add your name to the list of supporters, please visit. You can also find recipes there, including how to make soup and risotto from your leftover Sunday bird!

Mundy Cruising Website goes live
0404 Creative have designed and built a powerful new website for leading UK cruise specialist, Mundy Cruising plc.
The site, www.mundycruising.co.uk is aimed at reflecting the true nature of cruising and showcases elements that enhance both the selection process and the post cruise experience.
Persons who are new to cruising can search for a cruise through a unique 'sensual navigation' which visually represents the experiences, moods and elements that many are stimulated by when planning a holiday at sea. There is also an area for past passengers to write journals, post images and send postcards from aboard their cruise or when they return.
From a technology base, the system has a cutting edge content management area allowing the client to control all areas of flash design, headings, text and add cruises, articles, reports or images within seconds. The system also provides full emarketing software.
Jamie Loizou, Marketing manager of Mundy Cruising plc said ‘ 0404 understood exactly what we aimed for with our website and were able to assist us by creating innovative, exciting and clever solutions to achieve our goals. Because our website can be managed by us, through a comprehensive back office which is incredibly simple for us to use, we are able to keep both our content and imagery up to date and fresh, hugely increasing the longevity of the site and keeping on-going website maintenance costs to a minimum.’ The site will introduce new functions and enhancements throughout 2007.

The creative scene in the South of England has traditionally been characterised by smaller independent agencies with a focus on local business and Brighton has been no exception to this rule. But over recent years the city, which has been dubbed London by the sea, has attracted more and more creatives from the capital and as a result of this an increasing number of clients...
“We don’t feel that we have any disadvantages over London-based agencies. Design is about getting involved, which can be harder outside of London as Brighton hasn’t got a concentrated network of creatives. But good work speaks for itself and there’s definitely a lot of good work coming out of the city.” Simon Deverell - 0404 Creative

The project marks an exciting departure from the standard database driven cruise website and will focus on reflecting the true experience of cruising and promoting the company's excellent personalised service.
The site will include an array of new features and concepts not seen within the marketplace before.

The winners of the BBC's Your Game tournament will take part in the inaugural Street Football World Cup in Germany - after being told the news by Chancellor Gordon Brown.

Your Game was a five-a-side tournament for underprivilleged communities in 10 cities around the UK. The FA, Football Foundation, Streetleague and Kick it Out are all involved.
The project included design of identity and full usage guidelines. 0404 delivered a hosted 'design guideline' extranet as part of this project.
